Returning to Cranleigh Arts, the highly experienced chamber musicians of The Mordkovitch Trio bring a beautiful programme of late-Romantic repertoire from France and England. Debussy’s delightful piano trio, written in 1880 when he was only 18, is full of rich, exuberant melody and sensitive colour. Mel Bonis, a gifted contemporary of Debussy at the Paris Conservatoire, wrote her impressionistic ‘Soir’ in 1907, the same year as Frank Bridge’s prize-winning masterpiece, the stormy and melancholic ‘Phantasie’ Trio in C minor.
