about this event
Radiomorphic Angelography is an exhibition of paintings from Cranleigh-resident, Jana Alcock.
Presented is a collection of shimmering new works that dissolve themselves into the mysterious dimension connecting humanity to the divine: the realm of the angelic. Informed by the poetic depictions of angels in the Persian miniature tradition and the idiosyncratic mythology of William Blake, the artist channels these inexpressible subjects through swirling layers of colour and enigmatic superimpositions.
Where Jutta Koether framed painting as a 'journey of the mind', Alcock accepts painting as a vocational journey of the spirit. Here, presented alongside a survey of works from the last ten years, a wider cosmogony develops. The sacred thread weaves itself throughout the mundane, dispersing as light through a prism.
