Join Nicholas Pegg, author of The Complete David Bowie, as he takes us on a journey to discover some of the influences and inspirations behind the rock star’s most famous creation.
The story takes us back to 1967, when the struggling young pop singer crossed paths with the legendary mime artist Lindsay Kemp. The creative collaboration that followed would make its influence felt throughout Bowie’s glittering career, as we will discover in a colourful and fascinating talk illustrated with rare images and archive footage, followed by a Q&A session with the author.
Nicholas Pegg is one of the world’s leading authorities on the life and work of David Bowie. His book The Complete David Bowie is known to fans as “the Bowie bible”, and hailed by the artist’s long-time producer Tony Visconti as “the best Bowie reference book one could ever hope for”. Nicholas has acted as a consultant and contributor to numerous Bowie projects, including the BBC’s Five Years documentaries, the V&A exhibition David Bowie Is, and the BAFTA-nominated film Moonage Daydream.
Alongside his writing work, Nicholas is also an actor, with credits including everything from Shakespeare to pantomime, from It’s a Sin to Doc Martin, and regular appearances as a Dalek in Doctor Who.
